Hello everyone:
I wish to forward my thanks to all who attended the past British Isles Show Canada. It was certainly a show to remember and a first in many ways.
- It was the first time we sold out early and we had a hall full of exhibitors
- We had many first time exhibitors who were very pleased with the set up and organization of the show
- It was the first time in 35 years we had a snow storm so bad that on Saturday our attendance was down for the first time in 18 years. But what could we expect; people did the right thing and stayed indoors and in safety.
- However, for those VERY BRAVE attendees who ventured to the show over the weekend, what can we say, but a HUGE thanks. It was snowing like crazy outside but it was fun and a real party inside.
Steven Arnold our Coronation Street cast member had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all his fans. I know his fans had a wonderful time chatting to Steven over the weekend.
Elliott Gibson our Prince Harry look a like was a true gem. Elliott couldn’t believe how many people wanted to have their photo taken with him J
Bob Anderson, former world darts champion was in brilliant form as he beat many professional and casual darts players. It was a truly exciting final. Thank you to all those players who came for all 3 days for the tournament.
Of course, the weather didn’t deter our entertainers. Hugo Straney (our fabulous MC) kept the Scottish, Irish, Welsh and English dancers hopping, the pipe bands were awesome and the Gerry Alverez Odyssey was terrific. Everyone who attended and performed for our attendees had a wonderful time – again smiles all around.
Finally, I want to thank all our exhibitors, those long time friends and soon to be new friends. It was definitely a tough weekend and I want to thank everyone for going through the weekend with smiles on all faces. You are what make the British Isles Show and we couldn’t do it without you.
Look for information coming in August about the dates for the 2009 British Isles Show Canada, and we look forward to bringing you lots of news about Coronation Street cast members and other entertainment news.
With Warmest Appreciation

Corrie Star Steve Arnold
Steven Arnold who plays Ashley Peacock on Coronation Street will join us in Canada in March for the British Isles Show Canada.

Live Band - the Gerry Alvarez Odyssey
A mix of 60’s Garage and Psychedelia with a strong influence of “Revolver era Beatles” Psychedelic Rock best describes the Gerry Alvarez Odyssey”. When I first read that line on the bands bio I was aghast – but after listening and looking at their video “Candy Prankster” – I was hooked. This band promises to be one of the leading highlights of the upcoming British Isles Show at the Queen Elizabeth Building. Playing to capacity crowds, often setting attendance records at top clubs such as the Horseshoe Tavern, the Gerry Alvarez Odyssey has earned rave reviews in New York, Europe and Canada. CBC and MuchMusic have showcased their music helping catapult them into one of Canada’s best know alternative music bands. During breaks in the band’s career Gerry writes and records solo demos to which the album “Candy Prankster” is a result as well as being the first solo work by a member of the band. This band should and will be greeted with enthusiasm by young and not so young. Check out their web site or MySpace page for more information.
